Each SBG Systems IMU series is composed of several versions, with or without an internal RTK GNSS compass. When equipped with the compass, these so-called inertial navigation systems update the RTK GNSS position and heading in case of loss of GNSS signals for a short period of time (e.g. travel under a bridge, at the base of a quay or a large infrastructure).
Roll and pitch measurements are calculated using high-end MEMS technology, with an accuracy to one tenth and one hundredth of a degree. SBG Systems inertial navigation systems can be combined with various positioning and remote sensing technologies (GNSS receiver, Lidar, single or multibeam echosounder, sonar, etc.), and used on a wide variety of systems (USVs, ROVs, autonomous vehicles, hydrographic vessels, etc.). The Navsight Subsea series is a waterproof version for hydrographic operations.
Qinertia is a new generation of post-processing software combining computing power with a simple and practical interface for ease of use. Data from the SBG inertial navigation systems and GNSS receivers are processed in a tightly coupled system with access to over 7,000 reference stations worldwide. Qinertia improves navigation data, provides access to more in-depth analysis and fills in trajectory data-gaps due to complex environments (long tunnels, urban canyons, etc.).
