It was during our demonstrations at the Oceanology International in London in March 2022 that we took the opportunity to conduct a bathymetric survey of the Thames. We did not do things in half since we had the opportunity to map part of the environment using the Lidar: piers of the bridge, ExCeL building, other boats, etc.
Directly integrated on the USV200 marine drone, the Lidar is here combined with the multibeam sounder, itself installed below the surface drone. In this way, the bathymetry drone obtains data below and above the water level in a single pass.
Once launched from the pontoon near the ExCeL site, the USV200 followed the automatic mission launched by Dominique Chassagne, hydrographer and Technical Director at CADDEN.
Only about 30 minutes were needed to obtain data on the bridge and the buildings bordering the London River.
